About Me
Bio
In my art I strive to capture the beauty and emotional resonance of the moment I'm depicting. Storytelling is a guiding passion in my artwork. My life was changed forever when I encountered the work of Brené Brown on the topic of vulnerability. Currently I am working on exploring this concept in a series of fantasy paintings.
When I'm not working on a painting or teaching kids, I'm engaging in my favorite hobbies: cooking, baking, reading novels, cuddling my cats, taking way too many photos of trees and flowers, and nerding it up!
Expertise
I began taking art classes at 4 years old in my hometown of Darien, Connecticut. I have continued studying art ever since.
I spent my formative years joyously at the multi-arts program Creative Summer at The Mead School in Stamford, Connecticut. In 2006 I earned a Bachelor of Humanities and Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University with concentrations in art and English.
I have taken excellent classes at Virginia Commonwealth University and workshops at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) Studio School, the Grand Central Academy of Art in NYC, Plein Air Painters of Hawaii, and most importantly the Illustration Master Class (IMC) in Amherst, Massachusetts.
